Saw 9 to 5 last night and omg you guys, my obsession with this show is warranted. It is freaking crazy. The set has so many moving parts that it's understandable why they had to put off the world premiere so many times. There are things coming out of the floor and fake walls and offices coming in from the wings. A giant hole in the middle of the stage with a retractable cover where huge set pieces come and go. This shit is CRAZAZY.

Megan Hilty:
FUCKING AMAZING. Her Doralee is trying so hard to fit in and be liked, and your heart just breaks for her when she's sitting alone in the cafeteria. Singing was top notch as usual. She's got a couple of nice belty parts, but I think she's underused. I know the show's running long at two hours, but come on! I want Megan to get another song.

Stephanie J. Block:
OMG, I really like SJB when she's funny. In the song Out of Control, she does this thing where after every successful copy, she'll do a fist pump and a little victory dance. OMG. I WAS CRYING, I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD. SO ADORABLE.

In the scene before Get Out And Stay Out, she and Dick are in the foyer and he hears Hart making noises in the bedroom. SJB's supposed to go in and they struggle a bit before she gets the remote and he hangs above the bed. Tonight, the remote didn't work so they weren't really in place before the set piece started moving back into the wings. I thought she twisted an ankle because she kinda limps back to her mark. Then she's kind of half singing-half crying the beginning of Get Out And Stay Out and I thought it was a little weird, because she's supposed to be kind of emotional, but crying is a little over the top. I asked her about it at stagedoor and apparently, she wasn't ready for the set piece to start moving and she got caught and ripped off a toenail! SO THE WAVERY CRYING VOICE? WAS BECAUSE SHE WAS IN A CRAZY AMOUNTS OF PAIN. THE BELTING WAS STILL FIERCE THOUGH. DAMMIT SJB. YOU'RE CRAZY.

Marc Kudisch:
He is fantastic as Frank Hart Jr. He's so hilariously smarmy. He's like that frat dude who just can't understand why his moves aren't working. I wasn't a fan of his Act 1 song when I first heard it, but when you watch him sing and just be gross, it's hilarious. He kept doing doing these 70s hip thrust dance moves. AWESOME.

Allison Janney:
OMFG. I think she's starting to get into a groove with her singing. It's gotta be difficult to keep up with established Broadway singers, but I think she rolls with it. Her Violet is funny and snarky and slightly bitter without being overly angry. LOVELOVELOVEHEARTSLOVE.

I'M KIND OF IN LOVE WITH THIS SHOW A LOT. THERE'S LIKE FUN POP-COUNTRY SONGS AND REGULAR MUSICAL THEATRE SONGS. THERE'S SO MUCH ENSEMBLE DANCING AND JUMPING. IT'S JUST A REALLY REALLY FUN SHOW.

AWESOME.
